Ode to Kentucky Fried Chicken

I love chicken–especially KFC.. and when I go to my grandparents they are usually supportive with my weight loss efforts.. however, they knew I was coming over and believe me.. I had every effort to SABATOGE my efforts.. so my options were to sit down with the fam and talk over mash pot with gravey, butter layden biscuits, greasy fried chicken and mac and cheese–oh dont forget the baked beans… ORRRRRRRRR get online.. run to my buddies and reach out for SUPPORT>. I chose the 2nd… as I write each word, the smell of this food is lingering in my head and I can taste it in my mouth.. but I know that I am stronger than a meal of 1400 cals and over 100grams of fat…  and then I think of each of you.  How great your support has been.. how your encouragement has helped me to lose 20 pounds of fat… and the taste and desire is gone…. I am one my way to subways… and get me a sweet chicken teriyaki sub… and then head to the gym… Thanks for being there guys!!!!!!!!!!!

OH I love KFC too; hard to keep away when other parts of the family is always getting the family pack from there!

Now Josie that is dedication and perservirence!! You should pat yourself on the back and be very proud of yourself.  Just imagine how you would have felt if you had caved in to be polite to your grandparents.  Now reflect on how you are feeling at this very moment, top of the world GREAT!!! Enjoy your chicen terriyaki, savor each bite.  The next time I am tempted I am going to think of you, I’m not sure I would have been able to hold back as I love KFC over any other fast food as well.  Thanks for sharing, Laura

You have the strength of a thousand warriors!! I wouldn’t have been able to resist such delicious temptation. I gave in to the fabulous potato salad my neighbor made tonight, but I am trying to limit myself to one serving…lol. You definitely deserve to pat yourself on the back (but not while driving to Subway….lol).

Congratulations on being able to resist a food you love but you know is not good for you. I admire you for that. :-)

Ooooooh. I know that feeling. And the smell. KFC was my favorite food —- the hardest thing to give up. But I gave it up 25 years ago. My grandsons would come with the chicken [ for them], but you really lose the craving after awhile. Hang in there, it does get easier. Congrats and big hug.

Was on the way home from the gym and saw the KFC sign and the special for the day.  It was so temping to stop but I did not have the money and did not need the fried stuff!  Congratulations on being so strong!!!

Man. Fried chicken is one of my biggest weaknesses!!!!

    Truly…

If I had to go to a deserted island, I would take Fried Chicken. Mac and Cheese. And bacon… MY FAVORITE FOODS…

Just remember…Soon. Someday soon, you can have a piece. You just cant eat 10 pieces, and you just cant eat it every week…

    Its all about moderation…

I eat it about once every 6 months now…As I try to stay away from fast food all together, but I do allow the occasional KFC…

Congrats on fighting the force of the chicken…WOO HOO!!!

I love it, too! I can’t not eat the skin, so I have to avoid! Good job for making the choice to go to Subway!

Glad you were strong, Josie. Just remember that the satisfaction of getting into the next smaller sze will feel so much better and last a lot longer than the taste of fried chicken. I wish KFC still sold ther rotisserie chicken. It was almost () as good as their fried.

Good for you for resisting that KFC. It is sooooo good. This week-end I had company and everyone decided to have pizza. I am on low carb so when we went to pick up the pizza I had my friend stop by Carl’s Jr and I picked up a low carb burger. That pizza still smelled good but I stuck to my diet. It is really hard to stick to a plan when you are tempted by friends and family with things you love but know you can’t have at this point. Keep up the good work.
